Picture this:
You’ve got friends around for dinner, a few drinks, maybe just afternoon tea. Someone runs their hand across your new table and says, “Wow, I love this — where’s it from?”
And you smile and say, “This timber came from the very site where the new Ice Zoo now stands — the ground that made way for the rink where you (or your child) skate every week.”
Not just a table. A story. A connection. A one-off.
The Timber That Made Way for Skating’s Future
We’ve salvaged rare Australian hardwood from the industrial building that once stood at 253 Coward Street, Mascot — the very site where Sydney’s new Ice Zoo rink was built in 2024.
This timber didn’t hold skaters — but it held the ground that made way for them. It’s part of the stepping stones in Sydney’s ice skating story, helping pave the way for the rink that now keeps skating alive and for the future Olympic ice rink planned for Wolli Creek.

Why this timber is irreplaceable
What we found is extraordinary: Jarrah, beautifully aged, with a depth of colour and character you can’t buy off the shelf. Straight, dense, wide (more than 300mm) and strong. This timber is more than 100 years old. It has lived through generations, holding up industry long before it became part of this skating journey.
Timber like this doesn’t just appear. It’s the kind of find that comes once, and never again.
A Limited run - Made for you
We’re creating a very limited number of handcrafted tables from this timber — dining tables, coffee tables, and side tables that carry history in every grain.
But we won’t begin making them until we know who we’re building for. Each piece will be designed with its owner in mind — whether you want a traditional silhouette or a table inspired by the oval curve of the ice rink itself.
This isn’t just furniture. It’s something to live with and pass down. Once this timber is gone, it’s gone.
Why you should act now
There’s only a small quantity of this Jarrah — once it’s claimed, we cannot make more. Each table is built by hand and built to last, but this is a story that will only belong to a select few households.
If you’re interested, please get in touch so we can save yours.
And if someone you know lives and breathes the ice — forward this to them. This is their chance to hold a part of Sydney’s skating story, reimagined for their home.
